OUR HISTORY
In August 2002, Barbara Sorenson and Michele Schuler
of Benu Dance Company (then known as In Your Dreams) travelled from Lincoln,
Nebraska to the YWCA in Grand Island, Nebraska to begin teaching a series of belly dance classes.
Those attending were unaware they would be leaving each class with more than a basic
knowledge of the fundamentals of
American Tribal Style Belly Dance.
From strangers, to students, to sisters in dance,
this student troupe became
Caravan of Dreams.
As confidence in our self-expression increased and the bond between us strengthened,
so did our desire to perform.
Four "sisters" sharing thoughts of "taking the show on the road", began what is now
known as
KARAVAN OF DREAMS DANCE COMPANY.
We consider it a privilege to perform an art that so deeply touches the soul of both
performer and audience.
